NoLabel studio is currently working on a short movie, designed to be a part of a historical exhibition in the Krakow Main Square undergrounds. The undertaking was initiated by Krakow Museum of History. The movie, lasting 8 minutes, is a looped introduction to the rest of the exhibition, including the reconstruction of a medieval village, located in between 9th and 13th century on the grounds of today’s city.
The movie idea was originated by Elzbieta Firlej, Krakow Museum of History curator. The movie will be a combination of both 3D animation and a traditional video footage, captured in the chroma key technique. It will show a journey of a contemporary tourist in time, traveling 20, 000 years into the past. On his journey, he witnesses the changes that took place on the surface of Main Square during the centuries. He observes the progress of geological processes and the changes of flora and fauna in prehistoric times (including the extinction of the mammoths). His next stop is the 10th century. Walking the old merchants track near the saint Wojciech's church, the tourist experiences the life of a medieval Krakow's citizen. All this and further episodes of his pilgrimage create a consistent portrait of historical process that shaped the contemporary image of the Main Square.
The animation presents a hyper realistic but historically true story. It is being designed in cooperation with the experts from the Krakow Museum of History. Reconstructed image of the past is based on their research and knowledge. Thanks to their input and using the 3D graphic design we were able to portray the details of the past times environment, architecture, clothing, etc. and create a historically faithful message. Furthermore, special effects (fire or fabric simulation) make it realistic and reliable. The animation portrays history of Main Square in an attractive and intelligible way, making it an educational material aimed at various target groups. The animation's soundtrack will be composed by Kamil Sajewicz. The project is also realized in cooperation with MMInteractive agency, which is responsible for the reconstruction of the architecture and urban design of medieval Krakow. The premiere is planned for the beginning of 2010.
The NoLabel studio is an executive producer of an animated short movie "Dróżnik" (The Lineman). The project is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute as a part of a young talents program. "Dróżnik" was written and is being directed by Piotr Szczepanowicz, who permanently cooperates with NoLabel. The soundtrack will be composed by Kamil Sajewicz. The movie tells the story of a lineman who falls in love. It portrays the emotions connected with a common romance: anxiety, despair but also fulfillment. The movie lasts 10 minutes and was designed as an art project but will also be available for commercial use. The distribution channels of the movie will include movie theatres, TV programs, DVD discs and various festivals projections. The premiere is planned for the February of 2010.
